Recently published in the journal Nature Communications, the study uncovered a fundamental mechanism underlying Sanfilippo syndrome, a common form of childhood dementia, revealing how hyperactive and dysregulated synaptic circuits emerge in the brain tissue of children impacted by this devastating disease.
